Over the past few days, I’ve been reflecting on my recent hike on the Appalachian Trail—a journey I’ve wanted to take in Georgia for years.
A couple of months ago, Bill and his wife, Sandy took a trip and scouted the Georgia AT area, and when I saw Bill a few weeks later while camping with friends, we decided to plan our hike together. Since Sandy isn’t a fan of hiking and Scotty is busy with deer hunting this time of year, they graciously gave us their blessing to go. I’m incredibly grateful to Bill for handling the logistics so smoothly; staging cars and keeping us organized can be challenging, but he made it look easy.
Just days before the hike, our family received some news that made me hesitant about being away for a week. Still, Scotty encouraged me to go, and although my mind was preoccupied, the trail worked wonders for my spirit. While I often struggle with elaborate prayers, I find comfort in simply speaking people’s names before the Lord. Many of my steps on the AT were filled with these names, reminding me that God knows their needs—and mine. It was clear that God heard my prayers, especially through the people I met along the way. That is a story for another time.
During my drive to and from Georgia, I discovered some inspirational podcasts that truly uplifted me. I picked them at random, yet they often delivered exactly the encouragement I needed.
