We hiked 7 miles from Neel’s Gap to Hogpen Gap, with the final 0.9 miles being the toughest climb of our trip. Many people were out enjoying the trail, and the highways were busy with folks taking in the beautiful fall foliage. At the end of our hike on the way back to Neel’s Gap, an oncoming motorcycle lost control and nearly collided with my van. Thankfully, he regained control just in time; it could have ended badly.
