APPALACHIAN TRAIL - MA - SLACKPACKING - DAY 4 - ZERO DAY

Day 4 - Massachusetts AT - Day in Stockbridge - Zero Day

This morning started off with my role as the group’s coffee maker—because let’s face it, coffee is essential, especially on a slackpacking trip. I was all geared up for our toughest hike of the week, 13-miles, and feeling pretty good about it.
But then, in the midst of getting ready, I managed to spill my entire 2-liter water bladder all over the dining room floor. On the bright side, there’s now a remarkably clean spot in the room!
As I was dealing with the mess, I overheard one of the ladies talking to our guide about skipping the hike due to a pulled muscle. That got me thinking—maybe I should take it easy today too. It was going to be my only chance to visit Norman Rockwell museum, which turned out to be a fantastic experience.
It was a relaxing day, and considering I might not find myself back in Massachusetts anytime soon, I’m glad I took the opportunity to explore something new.
The grounds keeper of the Airbnb spotted two black bears on the property. I was hoping I would catch a glimpse of them from my 3rd floor bedroom. No such luck.
Tomorrow’s hike is 8 miles to Mount Greylock.
