APPALACHIAN TRAIL - MA - SLACKPACKING - DAY 8 - 10 miles

 Day 8 - Massachusetts AT - 10 miles

Wrapping Up an Incredible Week on the Appalachian Trail
Today we wrapped up our week beginning in Dalton, Massachusetts, walking our first mile on the AT through town before heading back into the hills one last time. The climbs didn’t let up, but neither did we. We ended out day hiking 1/2 mile through Cheshire, MA.
This week has pushed me more than I expected—physically and mentally. But I’m proud to say I logged 45 trail miles, plus countless steps up and down the three-story staircase at our Airbnb (those definitely count!) This trip marks my third state on the Appalachian Trail to complete SOME miles in and 11 more to go on this incredible journey.
This trip with Adventures in Good Company (AGC) was rated a Level 5, and I can confirm: it earned that label. After this week, I’ve decided my sweet spot is more of a Level 3, and that’s exactly what I’ve got lined up for Big Bend, Texas in November. I’m learning what kind of challenge lights me up—and where to draw the line for the sake of joy.
Last night, AGC treated us to a delicious farewell dinner at a cozy local restaurant. After a week of early mornings, tough terrain, and unforgettable views, we were all more than ready for a good night’s sleep.
Our group came from all over—Georgia, Kansas, Florida, California, Maine, Utah, Iowa and Texas—but we quickly became a trail family (tramily). There’s something special about the way shared challenge brings strangers together.
If you’re craving a meaningful adventure with amazing women, I can’t recommend AGC enough. Whether you’re new to hiking or a seasoned trekker, they have trips for every pace, and every level.

My hips took a beating on this trail. The only way I will be able to continue these kinds of climb in the mountains is stretching, stretching, stretching and more stretching.

Fun frog trying to hide.
This was fun to see close the white blaze. I felt like an inchworm most of the week.
Sidewalk blaze
Stretch, stretch, stretch....Come on sister you've got this!
